Nigeria international Victor Boniface has taken a major step toward sealing his move to AC Milan after completing the first stage of his medical in the Italian city.

The 24-year-old striker is set to join the Serie A giants on a season-long loan from Bayer Leverkusen, with the deal including a non-mandatory purchase option valued at around €24 million. Milan are expected to pay €5 million for the initial loan, taking the total package close to €30 million should the option be triggered.

“Boniface’s AC Milan fitness tests have been completed,” Italian transfer expert Gianluca Di Marzio confirmed on X. The forward underwent initial assessments before proceeding to the Galeazzi Hospital in Milan for further examinations.

Transfer insiders Fabrizio Romano, Matteo Moretto, and Florian Plettenberg also report that Boniface has agreed personal terms on a four-year deal, which would be activated if the Rossoneri make his move permanent next summer.

Milan manager Massimiliano Allegri has been eager to reinforce his frontline, with the club short on natural strikers at the start of the new season. An injury setback to Rafael Leão, who was forced to play as a makeshift striker in the opening match, has further accelerated the club’s pursuit of attacking reinforcements.

The Rossoneri had considered moves for Manchester United’s Rasmus Højlund and Juventus’ Dusan Vlahović but failed to reach agreements, turning their attention firmly to Boniface.

If finalized, the Nigerian forward will become Milan’s eighth signing of the summer transfer window, joining Luka Modrić, Ardon Jashari, Samuele Ricci, Koni De Winter, Pervis Estupiñán, Zachary Athekame, and Pietro Terracciano at the San Siro.
