Nigeria and the Benin Republic have signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) aimed at enhancing security and boosting economic development in their shared border communities.
The agreement, signed in Cotonou, Benin Republic, highlights the commitment of both countries to tackling long-standing challenges related to cross-border insecurity and fostering cooperation.
Dr. Olusola Akinbode, Chairman of Yewa North Local Government Area of Ogun State, emphasized the importance of collaboration between neighboring nations for peace and prosperity, stating that the partnership will enhance security, reduce illegal activities, and foster economic growth benefiting border communities.
The MoU is expected to improve safety and increase commercial activity in border towns, curbing crime and opening new opportunities for trade and employment.
