Nigeria: Dangote Group Denies Ownership of Truck Involved in Enugu Fatal Accident

Dangote Industries Limited has refuted claims that it owns the truck involved in a fatal accident along the Enugu-Port Harcourt Highway, which claimed six lives and injured several others. The truck, bearing the inscription of Visco Investment Global Limited, was traveling from Aba to Abuja when the accident occurred.

Despite viral videos suggesting the truck belonged to the Dangote Group due to its brand signature, the company insists the vehicle was operated by a third party.

In a statement, Dangote Group explained that it typically refrains from commenting on individual cases but was compelled to respond due to the spread of misinformation.

The company pledged to take decisive measures to safeguard its brand identity, stating, “We are engaging with the appropriate agencies to find out why the truck was carrying our logo when it is not part of our fleet. Going forward, we will apply more scrutiny to the unauthorized use of our brand identity.”

Dangote Group emphasized its commitment to corporate responsibility, safety, and integrity, while also calling on the public and media to avoid spreading unverified claims.

The company expressed support for the authorities handling the matter and insisted that investigations should be allowed to run their course without interference.
