The Kano state chapter of the New Nigeria People’s Party (NNPP) has expelled Abdulmumin Jibrin, a lawmaker representing Kiru/Bebeji constituency in the House of Representatives, due to alleged anti-party activities and unpaid dues. The decision was announced by Hashim Sulaiman Dungurawa, the state chairman of NNPP, at a press briefing in Kano on Saturday.

Dungurawa stated that Jibrin had repeatedly launched media attacks against the party and its leadership, describing him as a “weak politician” who owes his electoral success to the Kwankwasiyya movement and the NNPP platform. The party chairman also revealed that Jibrin had defaulted on paying mandatory party dues and vowed to take legal action to recover the outstanding funds.

This development comes days after Jibrin hinted at possibly defecting from the NNPP, saying, “Anything can happen, I can leave NNPP and I can stay, and I can also return back to APC, PDP, ADC, PRP or anywhere I want.” Dungurawa, however, insisted that Jibrin’s potential return to the All Progressives Congress (APC) would not diminish the NNPP’s strength, emphasizing that the Kwankwasiyya movement remains firmly behind its leader, Rabiu Musa Kwankwaso ¹.
