Kaduna State Governor Senator Uba Sani has named Mr. Jerry Adams as his deputy for the 2027 governorship election.
Sani announced the decision on Tuesday, July 28, 2026, in a post on his X account. He said the pick followed wide consultations, careful reflection, and prayers.
According to the governor, choosing Adams is more than filling the deputy slot. He framed it as proof of his government’s focus on inclusion, justice, fairness and equity in Kaduna.
“Today we take another decisive step toward building a more united, peaceful and inclusive Kaduna State,” Sani wrote. “After wide consultations, deep reflection and earnest prayers, I am delighted to announce the nomination of Mr. Jerry Adams, FCTI, FNIM, CNA, as my running mate in the 2027 Governorship Election.”
The governor described Kaduna as a state of many faiths, ethnic groups and cultures, and said that diversity should be treated as an asset, not a problem.
He noted that in the last three years his administration has worked to mend divisions and restore trust in government. Key projects in roads, schools, hospitals, water supply, agriculture, rural development and social protection have covered all 23 local government areas, guided by the idea that “no community should be left behind and no citizen should feel excluded,” he said.
Sani added that his team has engaged traditional rulers, religious leaders, women and youth groups to advance peace through dialogue and shared development. He said better security has allowed farmers to go back to their farms, businesses to expand, and new investments to come into several communities.
“Lasting peace is built not only by security measures but by fairness, inclusion and equal opportunity,” he said.
On why he chose Adams, Sani called him an accomplished public servant and tax administrator who helped turn the Kaduna State Internal Revenue Service into one of Nigeria’s respected revenue agencies. He credited Adams with driving innovation, transparency and professionalism that boosted the state’s finances and funded projects in education, health, infrastructure and agriculture.
“Beyond his impressive professional accomplishments, Jerry Adams is a man of integrity, humility and quiet strength. He has consistently demonstrated an unwavering commitment to peace, reconciliation and inclusive governance,” Sani said.
The governor said Adams’ nomination shows that merit, competence and character will remain the basis for picking leaders in his camp.
He urged Kaduna residents not to judge the ticket by religion, ethnicity or region, but by the broader goal of building a state where everyone has equal opportunity.
“As we look towards 2027, I invite every son and daughter of Kaduna State to see this moment not through the narrow prism of religion, ethnicity or geography, but through the broader vision of the Kaduna we are building together,” Sani said.
He promised that his administration will keep working toward a more united, secure, just and prosperous Kaduna.
