Celebrity chef Hilda Baci has kicked off her latest Guinness World Records attempt to cook the largest pot of Nigerian jollof rice.
The event, tagged Gino World Jollof Festival with Hilda Baci, took place at Eko Hotel and Suites in Lagos, with over 20,000 participants registering to attend.
Baci aims to cook 250 bags of rice in a custom-built pot measuring six meters wide and six meters tall, with a capacity of 22,619 liters.
The chef reassured fans that the food would be “the most amazing, hygienic meal you’ve ever eaten” and described the attempt as “history in the making”.
Baci had previously set a Guinness World Record for the longest cooking marathon in May 2023 and now hopes to etch her name in culinary history once again. The event is free and open to the public, showcasing Nigerian cuisine and culture.
Baci shared her excitement on Instagram, saying, “Yes, I can officially confirm this pot is squeaky clean! I rolled up my sleeves and washed it myself.” She also expressed her gratitude to supporters, stating, “Now, with you, that dream is coming alive. Because what is jollof without you to share it with?”.
