Ogun State Governor Dapo Abiodun has appointed 1,200 political assistants to enhance civic engagement and deepen democratic participation across the state.
The appointees, five from each of the 236 wards, will serve as change agents, bridging the gap between the grassroots and the state government.
Their responsibilities include supporting the delivery of democratic dividends, articulating ward needs, and providing feedback between the government and the people.
Special Adviser on Media and Strategy Kayode Akinmade described the initiative as a strategic effort to strengthen democratic governance, fulfilling Governor Abiodun’s electoral promise to carry every ward along in his administration’s development programs.
The governor urged the new appointees to contribute significantly to the growth and development of their wards, local governments, and the state.
This move is part of Governor Abiodun’s commitment to inclusive governance, valuing people’s inputs in shaping policies and initiatives.
By appointing these assistants, the state government aims to ensure greater local participation in governance and make government policies more accessible to the people.
