The Nigeria Customs Service (NCS) has appointed Comptroller Adebola Salawu as the new Area Controller of the Lagos Industrial Area Command (LIAC), succeeding Comptroller Sarah Wadinda, who retired after a distinguished career.
The appointment was confirmed on Saturday through the Service’s official X handle, @CustomsNG, while the official handover ceremony was held at the Command’s headquarters in Festac Town.
In a statement issued by the Command’s Public Relations Officer, Superintendent Juliana Tomo, Wadinda was commended for her leadership and notable corporate social responsibility projects under the Customs Cares initiative. During her tenure, Festac Senior Grammar School benefited from a water treatment plant, an e-library, a photocopier, and refurbished toilet facilities.
“The success of this project was made possible through the collaboration and support of stakeholders,” Tomo stated.
In her farewell remarks, Wadinda expressed gratitude to the Comptroller-General of Customs, Adewale Adeniyi, for entrusting her with the Command’s leadership. She also urged officers to give full support to her successor.
Taking over the reins, Salawu praised Wadinda’s achievements and pledged to consolidate on them.
“I assure officers and stakeholders of my commitment to improving excise operations,” he said, calling on personnel to embrace the Unified Customs Management System (B’Odogwu) and prioritise continuous training and stakeholder engagement to boost excise performance and strengthen national economic growth.
