Olorogun Oskar Ibru, a renowned Nigerian industrialist and chairman of the Ibru Organisation, has passed away at the age of 67 after a brief illness.
Born into the illustrious Ibru family, Oskar was a key figure in Nigeria’s corporate world and a prominent heir to the empire founded by his father, Olorogun Michael Ibru.
The Ibru Organisation, a conglomerate with interests in shipping, oil and gas, aviation, real estate, and commerce, became synonymous with indigenous entrepreneurship under the family’s leadership.
Oskar Ibru’s career spanned several decades, during which he held various leadership positions within the Ibru Organization.
He served as President of the Nigerian Chamber of Shipping from 2006 to 2010 and was instrumental in sustaining and expanding the family’s business empire.
Ibru was also a passionate philanthropist, founding the Dream Child Foundation, which uses music to empower and support African children.
He was conferred an honorary Doctorate Degree by Igbinedion University in 2017 and held the traditional title of Otunba Boyejo of Ijebu Kingdom.
Ibru’s legacy extends beyond his business ventures, as he played a significant role in promoting Nigerian entrepreneurship and philanthropy.
