President Bola Tinubu has summoned Ibok-Ete Ibas, the immediate past sole administrator of Rivers State, to the State House in Abuja.
Ibas was appointed as the sole administrator on March 18, 2025, after Tinubu declared a state of emergency in Rivers State, suspending Governor Siminalayi Fubara, his deputy Ngozi Odu, and all members of the state House of Assembly.
The emergency rule, which lasted for six months, was aimed at restoring peace and stability in the state amid a prolonged political crisis between Fubara and his predecessor, Nyesom Wike.
During his tenure, Ibas oversaw the conduct of local government elections, removed political appointees, and initiated several projects. He also claimed to have saved N5 billion from a civil service verification exercise.
The emergency rule ended on September 18, 2025, with Fubara returning to office and pledging to work harmoniously with other leaders to move the state forward.
The reasons behind Ibas’s summons to Aso Rock are not yet clear, but it comes amid ongoing efforts to maintain peace and stability in Rivers State.
