Fear and tension have gripped Bishewa village in Kwara State’s Lafiagi Emirate after bandits invaded the community and kidnapped a woman during a late-night attack.
The assailants, numbering about ten, stormed the village on motorcycles, shooting indiscriminately and forcing residents to flee.
The son of the abducted woman, who narrowly escaped, revealed that he was the main target but was away on community patrol when the attackers arrived.
The incident occurred barely 24 hours after the community secured the release of another abducted victim following a ₦5 million ransom payment. Residents have decried the rising wave of insecurity in the Lafiagi Emirate, calling on the Kwara State Government and security agencies to act swiftly to protect rural settlements.
This attack is the latest in a series of raids in the area, with bandits killing a pregnant woman and abducting eight others in separate incidents in September.
The Kwara State Police Command has deployed tactical teams to restore order and ensure the safe rescue of the abducted victims.
