The Nigerian Railway Corporation (NRC) has reported another case of vandalism along the Lagos-Ibadan Standard Gauge corridor, specifically between Agege and Agbado stations.

According to Chief Public Relations Officer Callistus Unyimadu, unknown persons tampered with vital signalling components, including signal machine cap protectors and connection cables on Switch Point Machine No. 2.

The damage was discovered during a routine inspection on October 6, 2025.

The NRC condemned the incident, describing it as an act of sabotage against national infrastructure, and warned that such actions pose serious safety risks to passengers and railway staff.

Despite the vandalism, train movement on the Lagos-Ibadan corridor was not obstructed, and operations continued without interruption.

Security agencies have been notified to investigate and apprehend those responsible.
