Kano Pillars General Manager, Ahmed Musa, has issued a heartfelt apology following the violent incidents that disrupted his team’s Nigeria Premier Football League (NPFL) match against Shooting Stars Sports Club (3SC) at the Sani Abacha Stadium, Kano, on Sunday evening.

The encounter, which ended in chaos after Shooting Stars scored a dramatic late equaliser, saw sections of Kano Pillars fans invade the pitch, attacking visiting players, referees, and match officials. Videos of the disturbing scenes have since gone viral on social media, sparking widespread condemnation.

In a statement released shortly after the incident, the former Super Eagles captain described the events as “heartbreaking, shameful, and completely unacceptable,” stressing that the violent conduct does not reflect the true spirit or values of Kano Pillars FC.

“I, Ahmed Musa, the General Manager of Kano Pillars Football Club, extend my deepest and most sincere apologies for the unfortunate, painful, and disgraceful incident that occurred during our game against Shooting Stars Sports Club on Sunday evening,” he wrote.

“What transpired is heartbreaking and completely unacceptable. It does not represent the true values, identity, or proud history of Kano Pillars. This club has always stood for community, passion, and respect — values that must never be overshadowed by violence or indiscipline.”

Musa apologised to Shooting Stars, match officials, the NPFL board, and fans across Nigeria who witnessed the chaos. “To the players, coaches, officials, and supporters of Shooting Stars Sports Club, to the referees, league organisers, and to every football fan who watched these scenes with anger and disappointment — I am deeply, deeply sorry,” he said.

Reiterating that violence has no place in football, Musa vowed that the club would collaborate with authorities to identify and punish those responsible.

“Football is meant to unite and inspire. When it turns into scenes of chaos and harm, we must not pretend it away. We will work closely with the relevant authorities to ensure that those involved face the full consequences of their actions,” he assured.

He further acknowledged that apologies alone are insufficient and promised that Kano Pillars would take concrete steps to prevent a recurrence.

Addressing the club’s fans directly, Musa urged them to show restraint and uphold the club’s legacy through discipline and respect.

“Kano Pillars is a proud club with a rich legacy, and our fans are the heartbeat of this team. But true support is shown not through violence, but through passion and respect. This must be a turning point for us,” he said.

Musa concluded his statement with a sweeping apology and a commitment to rebuilding trust within Nigerian football.

“On behalf of Kano Pillars Football Club, I offer my most heartfelt and unreserved apology to the NPFL, Shooting Stars, referees, and football lovers everywhere. We take full responsibility and will do everything necessary to restore trust, respect, and the true spirit of football in Kano and across Nigeria.”
