The body of former Kenyan Prime Minister Raila Odinga arrived at Jomo Kenyatta International Airport in Nairobi on Thursday, October 16, 2025, sparking an outpouring of grief from his supporters.
The plane carrying his remains touched down at 9:30 am, and a large crowd gathered at the airport to pay their respects.
As the casket was removed from the plane, the crowd breached the VIP gates, forcing security personnel to struggle to maintain order. The Kenya Defence Forces were deployed to restore calm and secure the premises.
Odinga’s body was received by President William Ruto, former President Uhuru Kenyatta, and other dignitaries.
The casket was draped in the Kenyan flag and placed on a gun carriage for transport to Lee Funeral Home.
