Senator Friday Benson Konbowei, representing Bayelsa Central on the platform of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), has defected to the All Progressives Congress (APC).
The defection was announced by Senate President Godswill Akpabio during plenary, after Konbowei submitted his letter of resignation citing the intractable crises rocking the PDP as the reason for his departure.
This development follows a similar defection by Governor Douye Diri of Bayelsa State, who is also expected to join the APC with some members of the State House of Assembly.
However, not all lawmakers are supportive of the move, with some expressing concerns over the timing and implications of the defection.
