The Federal Capital Territory Police Command has ordered the immediate redeployment of the Divisional Police Officer (DPO) of Ushafa, following the circulation of a video on X (formerly Twitter) showing the officer slapping a young man on Wednesday, October 22, 2025.

Commissioner of Police, CP Miller G. Dantawaye, psc, condemned the officer’s actions, describing them as falling “short of the high standards of discipline, civility, and professionalism expected of police officers.” He stressed that such behaviour is unacceptable and will not be tolerated under his leadership.

The officer has been transferred back to the State Headquarters, and an investigation into the incident is ongoing. CP Dantawaye emphasized that all DPOs and their subordinates must uphold professionalism, courtesy, and the rule of law in the execution of their duties, warning that any misconduct or abuse of power will attract strict disciplinary action.

The Commissioner also urged members of the public to maintain respect and cooperate with police officers to ensure effective community policing and public safety.

FCT residents are encouraged to report suspicious activities or individuals through the command’s emergency numbers: 08061581938, 08032003913, or CRU: 08107314192.
