President Bola Ahmed Tinubu held a closed-door meeting with the newly appointed Service Chiefs at the State House in Abuja, just three days after their appointments were announced.
The meeting aimed to discuss security priorities, ongoing counterterrorism operations, and the administration’s commitment to sustaining peace and stability across the country.
The new Service Chiefs in attendance included General Olufemi Oluyede, Chief of Defence Staff; Major-General Waheedi Shaibu, Chief of Army Staff; Air Vice Marshal Kennedy Aneke, Chief of Air Staff; and Rear Admiral Idi Abbas, Chief of Naval Staff. Also present was Major-General Emmanuel Undiendeye, who retained his position as Chief of Defence Intelligence.
The Presidency stated that the appointments are part of a strategic realignment to deepen professionalism, boost morale, and enhance inter-agency coordination in national security operations. Details of the President’s charge to the new Service Chiefs were not immediately made public.
This development comes as the country looks to strengthen its security apparatus and tackle various security challenges.
