The trial of former Kano State Governor, Abdullahi Umar Ganduje, his wife Hafsat Umar, and six others has been adjourned to November 26, 2025, due to the defendants’ failure to file pending applications.

The case involves an 11-count charge of bribery, conspiracy, misappropriation, and diversion of public funds amounting to billions of naira.

During the court session, prosecution counsel Adeola Adedipe (SAN) expressed readiness to open the case, stating that witnesses were present in court.

However, the defense team requested an adjournment, citing unresolved applications and motions.

Ganduje’s counsel, Lydia Oluwakemi-Oyewo, explained that their further and better affidavit filed on July 17, 2025, had not been properly served on all parties.

The court heard similar requests for adjournment from other defense counsels, including Chief M. N. Duru (SAN) and Sunusi Musa (SAN), who informed the court of pending motions and applications, including a stay of proceedings at the Court of Appeal.

Justice Amina Adamu-Aliyu directed all parties to ensure their pending motions are filed and served before the next sitting.
