In a major political development, the entire Enugu State caucus in the House of Representatives has formally defected to the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC).
The defection, announced by Speaker Tajudeen Abbas during plenary, saw eight lawmakers from the Labour Party and Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) join the APC.
The defectors cited unresolved internal crises in their former parties and the need to align with the project-oriented administration of Governor Peter Mbah as reasons for their decision.
Nnolim Nnaji, member representing Nkanu East/Nkanu West Federal Constituency, emphasized that the move was a bold step towards progress, aimed at repositioning Enugu State for lasting development.
The APC now controls all eight House of Representatives seats in Enugu State, a significant shift from the 2023 general election where the Labour Party won seven seats and the PDP secured one. The defection marks a new era in Enugu politics, with the APC poised to shape the state’s destiny.
