The Nigerian Senate has confirmed Dr. Bernard Doro as a minister of the Federal Republic of Nigeria, following a swift screening process that lasted less than 30 minutes.

Doro’s confirmation comes after President Bola Tinubu nominated him for the position last week, replacing Prof. Nentawe Yilwatda, who resigned to take up his new role as National Chairman of the All Progressives Congress (APC).

During his screening, Doro outlined his vision for creating an inclusive humanitarian ecosystem in Nigeria, emphasizing the importance of impartiality and independence.

He also highlighted the need for synergy between security agencies to better target individuals affected by crises, noting that technology can play a vital role in achieving this goal.

With over two decades of professional experience, Doro brings a wealth of knowledge to the table. He holds degrees in Pharmacy and Law, as well as an MBA focusing on IT-driven business strategy.

As an Independent Prescriber and Advanced Clinical Practitioner with the UK’s National Health Service (NHS), Doro has worked in various settings, including urgent care, walk-in centers, general practice, and hospital settings.

Doro’s appointment is seen as a significant move by the Tinubu administration to strengthen the country’s humanitarian sector. His experience in youth mentorship and social impact initiatives will likely be valuable assets in his new role.
