The Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) has rejected the judgment of the Federal High Court in Abuja delivered by Justice Kolawole Omotosho but has vowed to challenge the decision at the appellate court.

In a statement issued on Friday by its National Publicity Secretary, Debo Ologunagba, the party said it has directed its legal team to file an appeal immediately, reaffirming its commitment to the rule of law and the protection of multi-party democracy in Nigeria.

According to Ologunagba, the court’s ruling does not in any way affect the PDP’s preparations and processes for its forthcoming National Convention, where new national officers will be elected to steer the party’s affairs for the next four years.

He added that the recent Supreme Court decision had already reaffirmed the supremacy of political parties in managing their internal affairs, a principle the PDP remains committed to upholding.

The statement further urged all party members, chapters, and organs to remain resolute, united, and focused on ensuring a successful national convention and the continued strengthening of the PDP’s internal democracy.
