Nigeria’s Foreign Minister, Yusuf Tuggar, has dismissed allegations of state involvement in religious persecution, describing such claims as “impossible” under the country’s constitution and legal framework.

Speaking at a joint press conference with his German counterpart, Johann Wadephul, in Berlin on Tuesday, Tuggar reaffirmed Nigeria’s “constitutional commitment to religious freedom and the rule of law.”

The minister’s remarks followed a question regarding U.S. President Donald Trump’s recent warning of possible military action if Nigeria fails to stop attacks on Christians by Islamist insurgents.

Tuggar stressed that Nigeria remains a secular nation where all citizens are free to practice their faith without fear or discrimination, noting that the government continues to combat terrorism in all its forms.
