Troost-Ekong made his debut for Nigeria in 2015 and quickly established himself as a key figure in the national team’s defence. He captained the side at different times and was instrumental in Nigeria’s AFCON campaigns, notably playing through injury during the 2023 tournament where he won Player of the Tournament.
