Governor Chukwuma Charles Soludo has secured a resounding victory in the November 8, 2025, Anambra State governorship election, earning a second term that will see him remain in office until 2030.

The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) declared Soludo, the candidate of the All Progressives Grand
Alliance (APGA), winner after he swept all 21 local government areas of the state — an outcome described as a landslide.

Announcing the results in the early hours of Sunday, the Returning Officer, Professor Omoregie Edoba, who also serves as the Vice Chancellor of the University of Benin, declared Soludo winner after final collation at INEC’s state headquarters in Awka.

“I hereby declare that Soludo Chukwuma Charles of the APGA, having satisfied the requirements of the law, is hereby declared the winner and is returned elected,” he announced to a gathering of party agents, observers, and journalists.

Soludo garnered 422,664 votes to decisively defeat his closest challenger, Nicholas Ukachukwu of the All Progressives Congress (APC), who polled 99,445 votes. Paul Chukwuma of the Young Progressives Party (YPP) came third with 37,753 votes, while Labour Party’s George Moghalu and Peoples Democratic Party’s Jude Ezenwafor trailed with 10,576 and 1,401 votes respectively.

Sixteen candidates participated in the election, including representatives of smaller parties such as the African Democratic Congress (ADC), Action Alliance (AA), New Nigeria Peoples Party (NNPP), and the Allied People’s Movement (APM).

The victory marks Soludo’s second consecutive win since his first election in November 2021, when he also won overwhelmingly across 19 of the 21 LGAs. His re-election consolidates APGA’s dominance in Anambra, where the party has maintained control for 19 consecutive years — a rare feat in Nigeria’s political landscape.

The former Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN) governor’s re-election came after a tense campaign season dominated by debates over security, governance, and economic performance in the state.
