The Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in Anambra has suspended its governorship candidate, Jude Ezenwafor, for one month over alleged anti-party activities.
The party’s state executive committee (SEC) passed the resolution on Tuesday, citing Ezenwafor’s failure to campaign and his alleged sabotage of the party’s chances in the election.
According to PDP chairman Chidi Chidebe, Ezenwafor’s actions were “unbecoming of a candidate of our great party”.
The party also accused him of establishing a parallel gang of impostors to interfere with party functions. Ezenwafor, who secured only one vote in his own ward, has been referred to the state party disciplinary committee for further investigation.
Interestingly, Ezenwafor had congratulated Governor Chukwuma Soludo on his re-election and pledged to work with him, describing their relationship as longstanding and cordial.
The PDP placed sixth in the Anambra governorship election with 1,401 votes, while APGA won with 422,664 votes.
