Governor Biodun Oyebanji has won the Ekiti State governorship election after securing victory in all 16 local government areas, results from the ongoing collation show.
The landslide win makes Oyebanji only the second candidate in Ekiti’s history to achieve a clean sweep. The first was Ayodele Fayose, who won all 16 LGAs in 2014 to defeat then-incumbent Governor Kayode Fayemi.
With his expected declaration later today, Oyebanji will also become the first sitting governor of Ekiti State to win re-election while in office.
The Peoples Democratic Party finished a distant second. The party performed best in Ikere LGA, the home base of its candidate, Oluyede.
The ADC placed third. Its candidate, Dr. Abejide, was unable to win his own Ilawe LGA.
