Former Senate President Bukola Saraki has advised the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) to suspend its planned national convention, citing extensive controversy and conflicting court orders surrounding the event.

Saraki made this call after meeting with the PDP Board of Trustees (BOT) Reconciliation Team, led by Ambassador Hassan Adamu, expressing regret that despite efforts to resolve internal disputes, the convention has become mired in political and legal wrangling.

Saraki emphasized that political matters are best resolved through dialogue, not litigation, and that the conflicting court orders pose a grave threat to the credibility of the process.

He proposed setting up a Caretaker Committee to steer the party’s affairs temporarily, saying this is the path to true reconciliation and stability.

The former Kwara Governor warned that proceeding with the convention would only fuel the present crisis, and no serious politician would contest on the PDP platform amidst uncertainty over nomination validity.

Saraki’s intervention underscores the urgent need for dialogue and internal reconciliation in the PDP ahead of critical political events.
