The Nasarawa State Police Command has dismissed reports circulating on social media and some news platforms claiming that two pupils of St. Peter’s Academy, Rukubi, in Doma Local Government Area, were abducted by kidnappers.

In a statement issued on Thursday, the Police Public Relations Officer, SP Ramhan Nansel, described the report as false and misleading.

According to the statement, the Command received an unverified alert around 10:00 a.m. on November 21, 2025, alleging that two pupils were kidnapped while taking part in sporting activities on the school field.

Acting swiftly, the Commissioner of Police, CP Shetima Jauro Mohammed, deployed a joint team of police operatives and military personnel to the area.

Investigations at the scene, however, revealed that the pupils had fled after sighting hunters carrying Dane guns and mistook them for kidnappers. Security operatives combed the area and restored calm. The school proprietor also confirmed that it was a false alarm.

The Command assured residents that the area remains under close surveillance and urged the public to disregard the rumour. It also advised journalists to verify information before publication to avoid spreading misinformation.
