Kebbi State Governor Nasir Idris has expressed alarm over the withdrawal of military personnel from Government Girls Comprehensive Secondary School, Maga, shortly before bandits abducted several students.

Idris stated that the state had received intelligence warning of a possible attack and convened a security meeting, but the military withdrew troops at 3 am, and the abduction occurred at 3:45 am.

The governor has demanded an investigation into the circumstances surrounding the withdrawal of troops, questioning who authorized the move.

Idris assured that the state and federal governments are working to secure the release of the abducted schoolgirls, with President Bola Tinubu directing the Minister of State for Defence, Bello Matawalle, to relocate to Kebbi State.

The abduction has sparked widespread concern, with calls for prayers and divine intervention.

The governor thanked President Tinubu for his support and assured that everything possible is being done to rescue the students.
