The Inspector General of Police, Kayode Egbetokun, has arrived in Kebbi State to meet with Governor Nasir Idris and address officers and men of the Nigeria Police Force.
His visit comes as security agencies continue rescue operations for the abducted Maga schoolgirls, kidnapped by gunmen on November 17.
The attackers killed the school’s Vice Principal, Malam Hassan Makuku, and abducted several students.
Egbetokun recently met with President Bola Tinubu to discuss the deteriorating security situation in the country, particularly the wave of abductions in Kebbi, Niger, and Kwara States.
The President has directed security agencies to act swiftly and bring the girls back, and has postponed his planned trip to the G20 summit in South Africa.
In a related incident, gunmen invaded St. Mary’s Primary and Secondary School in Niger State, kidnapping 315 students, although 50 have since escaped. Security forces are combing the forests to rescue the abducted students.
