Nigeria: Malami Released After EFCC Questioning, Says Allegations Are Fabricated

Former Minister of Justice and Attorney-General of the Federation, Abubakar Malami, has been released after an initial invitation by the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) for questioning.

Malami confirmed his release in a statement shared on X, saying the engagement was successful and he’s been given an appointment for further engagement.

He described the allegations against him as “fabricated” and reaffirmed his commitment to transparency and accountability in public service. Malami had earlier announced his invitation by the EFCC, stating he would honor it as a law-abiding citizen.

The EFCC hasn’t released details on the full scope of its inquiry, but Malami’s invitation is reportedly linked to alleged misconduct during his tenure as AGF.
