Nigeria’s Supreme Court has upheld the President’s power to declare a state of emergency in any state to prevent a breakdown of law and order or degeneration into chaos or anarchy, allowing for the suspension of elected officials.

This ruling reinforces the President’s authority to intervene in situations where a state’s governance is compromised, ensuring stability and order are maintained.
