Aliko Dangote, Chairman of Dangote Group, has petitioned the Independent Corrupt Practices and Other Related Offences Commission (ICPC) against Ahmed Farouk, Managing Director of the Nigerian Midstream and Downstream Petroleum Regulatory Authority (NMDPRA), alleging corruption and financial impropriety.
The petition calls for Farouk’s arrest, investigation, and prosecution for allegedly living beyond his means as a public servant.
Dangote accused Farouk of spending over $7 million on his children’s education in Switzerland, which he claims cannot be justified by Farouk’s earnings in public service.
The petition also alleges that Farouk used his position to embezzle and divert public funds, contributing to recent public protests in the downstream petroleum sector.
Dangote has offered to provide evidence to support his allegations and urged the ICPC to act decisively.
