Residents of Aiyetoro Kiri in Kogi State are abandoning their homes following a violent attack on the First ECWA Church, where over 20 worshippers were abducted.

The community, once bustling, is now eerily quiet, with locked doors and streets empty except for the sound of roosters crowing.

The attack, which occurred on December 14, 2025, has sparked fears of further assaults, prompting residents to relocate to nearby towns and villages for safety. One resident said, “This town is empty now. People are not waiting to be next”.

The incident is the latest in a series of attacks in Kogi State, highlighting concerns over rising insecurity.

Security forces are working to rescue the abducted worshippers, while residents call for stronger measures to protect lives and property.
