The Kano State Police Command has apprehended the wife and two associates of Ahmad Abba, a suspected terrorist wanted for the murder of 17 people in Chad Republic.
Speaking to journalists on Friday, Kano State Commissioner of Police, Salman Garba, revealed that Abba had fled Nigeria and was allegedly plotting to establish a terrorist base in Kano.
The arrested individuals include Abba’s wife, a Chadian national identified as Jibrin Mohammed, and a Nigerian accomplice.
Garba disclosed that improvised explosive devices (IEDs) were recovered from the suspects during the operation.
“The wanted Chadian terrorist has escaped from Nigeria, but through intelligence-led policing, we successfully arrested three of his associates, including his wife, a 42-year-old Chadian named Jibrin Mohammed, and a Nigerian,” Garba stated.
He added that the suspects are currently in custody as investigations continue, with efforts underway to track down other accomplices.
The police commissioner emphasized the importance of intelligence gathering and community cooperation in preventing security threats.
“Our teams are working closely with other intelligence agencies and communities to identify suspicious activities and individuals that may pose a threat to public safety,” he said.
This development follows a security alert issued by the Kano police on January 24, warning residents about intelligence reports of a possible terrorist attack targeting public gatherings in key locations across the state.
