Former senator Gilbert Nnaji has resigned from the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) after 27 years and has joined the African Democratic Congress (ADC).
In a resignation letter, Nnaji, who represented Enugu East, stated that the PDP has become “irredeemable and irreparable” and has drifted from its founding ideals of unity, justice, and fairness.
He described his decision to leave as difficult but necessary after extensive consultations.
Nnaji called the ADC a “veritable and promising ground” with like-minded individuals working to redirect the country. His move is seen by some as part of a broader political realignment ahead of the 2027 elections.
