Senator Godiya Akwashiki, who represented Nasarawa North, has died at the age of 52 following a prolonged illness.

Family sources confirmed he passed away on Wednesday, December 31, 2025, while receiving treatment at a hospital in India.

Akwashiki, a member of the Social Democratic Party (SDP), was a two-term senator and the first from his district to be re-elected, having previously served as Deputy Speaker of the Nasarawa State House of Assembly.

Described by a family source as the “best senator Nasarawa North ever produced,” he was known for his focus on grassroots development and constituency projects.
