Senator Idiat Oluranti Adebule has empowered 1,000 residents of Lagos West with business tools and equipment as part of her Annual Mega Empowerment Programme, reinforcing her focus on grassroots development alongside legislative duties.
The empowerment programme, held at the LTV Blue Roof Pavilion in Ikeja, attracted party leaders, lawmakers and community stakeholders from across the senatorial district. Beneficiaries received items including mini buses, sewing machines, hair dryers, laptops, freezers and other equipment aimed at supporting small-scale businesses and self-employment.
Speaking at the event, Adebule reviewed her performance since assuming office in June 2023, stating that she has sponsored 18 bills and presented two motions in the Senate. She said her work in the National Assembly has been complemented by constituency projects across Lagos West, including the construction of healthcare centres, youth development centres and the installation of solar-powered streetlights.
“I remain irrevocably committed to the welfare, wellbeing, security and prosperity of our people,” the senator said, adding that her interventions are designed to promote social and economic inclusion.
She also thanked President Bola Ahmed Tinubu for his support and urged residents of Lagos West to continue backing the administration’s Renewed Hope Agenda.
Many of the beneficiaries, who were trained in areas such as information and communication technology, hairdressing and catering, expressed appreciation for the support, describing the programme as a boost to their livelihoods.
In his welcome address, Hon. Rasaq Ajala praised Adebule’s approach to representation, particularly her emphasis on youths, women and small-scale entrepreneurs. He described her as a leader who has demonstrated that public office goes beyond lawmaking to directly improving lives.
The event drew praise from several political leaders, including Chairman of the Senate Committee on Appropriation, Senator Solomon Olamilekan Yayi; Senator Musiliu Obanikoro; apex senatorial leader Prince Rabiu Adio Oluwa; and Lagos State All Progressives Congress Chairman, Pastor Cornelius Ojelabi. They commended Adebule for her compassion, leadership style and commitment to service.
Earlier, the senator had also donated two mini buses and empowered 250 women during the inaugural Lagos West Women Assembly, further underscoring her focus on economic empowerment.
Participants described the engagement and empowerment programme as a major success, noting that it reflected a vision of a more self-reliant and economically empowered Lagos West, with Senator Adebule widely acknowledged as a consistent advocate for people-centred representation in the district.
