Egypt, record champions of the tournament, adopted a conservative approach, focusing on defensive solidity and looking to frustrate their opponents. However, Senegal’s persistence eventually paid off as Mané found the breakthrough late in the game.
The win sends Senegal into Sunday’s final, where they will face either hosts Morocco or Nigeria, who meet in the second semi-final.
