Thousands of mourners gathered at the Emir’s palace in Ilorin on Monday to bid farewell to the late Chief Imam, Sheikh Dr. Mohammed Bashir Solihu, who passed away at 75.
The Janazah prayer was attended by prominent Nigerians, including Emir Ibrahim Sulu-Gambari and former Senate President Bukola Saraki.
Solihu, who served as the 12th Chief Imam of Ilorin for over four decades, was known for his wisdom, intelligence, and dedication to promoting interfaith harmony and tolerance.
He was appointed Chief Imam in 1983 and received several honors, including an Honorary Doctorate Degree from Belaze University, UK, in 2013.
