In a letter, Yusuf cited “deep divisions” and “irreconcilable cracks” within the NNPP as reasons for his exit, stating his resignation was in the best interest of Kano State.

He emphasized his commitment to peace, unity, and progress for the state.

Yusuf’s defection is accompanied by 21 state assembly members, 8 federal legislators, and 44 local government chairmen joining the APC.

This realignment is expected to strengthen the APC’s grip on Kano politics and potentially impact the 2027 elections.
