Nigeria is set to strengthen its bilateral relations with Italy, with Deputy Foreign Affairs Minister Bianca Odumegwu-Ojukwu reaffirming the country’s commitment to enhancing cooperation with Italy.
This development follows a meeting between Odumegwu-Ojukwu and Italian Ambassador to Nigeria, Roberto Mengoni, where both parties discussed ways to bolster their strategic partnership.
Key areas of focus include sustainable development, food security, economic cooperation, and addressing global challenges such as climate change, irregular migration, and regional security concerns.
Italy has been a key partner in Nigeria’s industrialization efforts, providing technical support in sectors like renewable energy, agribusiness, and infrastructure.
The minister emphasized the need for efficient trade facilitation mechanisms, improved visa processing, and joint efforts to combat human trafficking and transnational crime.
Italy has expressed interest in strengthening relations with Nigeria, recognizing the country’s strategic position in Africa.
