Dr. George Moghalu, the Labour Party’s governorship candidate in Anambra State’s 2025 election, has formally resigned from the party, effective January 26, 2026.
In a letter to the Labour Party chairman in his ward, Uruagu, Nnewi, Moghalu expressed gratitude for the opportunity to contest the election and acknowledged the support he received from party leaders and members.
The former Managing Director of the National Inland Waterways Authority (NIWA) didn’t disclose his reasons for leaving the party, but speculations are rife about his potential alliance with another party, possibly the All Progressives Congress (APC) or the African Democratic Congress (ADC)
Moghalu’s resignation has raised questions about Labour Party’s future in Anambra State and the implications for Nigerian politics.
