In a statement issued on Wednesday by his Special Adviser on Information and Strategy, Bayo Onanuga, the President described the incident as a tragic loss and expressed his sympathy to the Ndidi family.

“I am deeply saddened by the tragic death of Sunday Ndidi. I share in the grief of his family, friends and associates, particularly Wilfred Ndidi, who shared a strong bond with his father as a mentor and guide in his remarkable football career,” Tinubu said.

The President noted that the late Sunday Ndidi’s humble background and integrity left a lasting impression on those who knew him and looked up to him for inspiration.

Tinubu also prayed for divine comfort for the family and for the peaceful repose of the deceased’s soul.

PUNCH Online had earlier reported that Sunday Ndidi, a retired military officer, died after being involved in a road accident and was later confirmed dead at a hospital in Agbor.

Ndidi’s club, Leicester City, also confirmed the death in a statement, expressing sadness over the loss and extending condolences to the Super Eagles midfielder and his family.
