Kano State Governor Abba Kabir Yusuf has officially joined the All Progressives Congress (APC), with Murtala Garo, the party’s deputy governorship candidate in the 2023 election, welcoming him with open arms.
Garo praised Yusuf’s leadership, citing his calm disposition and commitment to public welfare as key qualities that make him an asset to the party.
In a statement, Garo described Yusuf’s defection as a significant step towards political stability, inclusive governance, and sustainable development in Kano State.
He expressed confidence that Yusuf’s entry into the APC would strengthen the party’s reform agenda and enhance cooperation between the state and federal governments.
Yusuf’s decision to join the APC comes after weeks of speculation and consultation, with some political stakeholders criticizing the move as a betrayal of his former party, the New Nigeria People’s Party (NNPP).
