Nigeria’s Super Eagles forward Ademola Lookman has completed a move from Atalanta to Atletico Madrid after both clubs reached an agreement.

The 28-year-old winger has signed a contract with the Spanish giants that will run until June 30, 2030. Media reports estimate the transfer fee at around €40 million ($47.5 million).

Lookman arrives in Madrid with an impressive pedigree, having played a key role in Atalanta’s historic UEFA Europa League triumph in 2024, where he scored a memorable hat-trick in the final against Bayer Leverkusen.

So far this season, the versatile right-footed attacker has recorded three goals in 19 appearances across all competitions for the Italian side.

Born in London, Lookman began his professional career at Charlton Athletic before moving to Everton. He later joined RB Leipzig in 2019 following a loan spell, but returned to the Premier League on loan with Fulham and Leicester City before sealing a permanent move to Atalanta in 2022.

Atletico Madrid manager Diego Simeone had been pushing for attacking reinforcements following the departures of Giacomo Raspadori to Atalanta and Conor Gallagher to Tottenham during the winter transfer window.
The signing also comes as Atletico look to bolster their attacking options, with striker Julián Álvarez currently enduring a goal drought, having failed to score in his last 11 La Liga matches.
