The Julius Abure-led Labour Party has accused the FCT Police Command of complicity in the alleged takeover of its National Secretariat in Abuja by a rival faction led by Senator Nenadi Usman.
The party claims police officers blocked access to the secretariat, preventing its national officers from entering, while allowing Usman’s group to occupy the premises.
The dispute stems from a leadership struggle, with the Abure-led faction alleging the Usman group is attempting to cause a breakdown of law and order.
The party has petitioned the Inspector-General of Police, urging neutrality and professionalism in handling the dispute.
The police have not publicly commented on the allegations. The incident highlights tensions within the Labour Party and raises concerns about police involvement in internal party affairs.
