Nigeria and Germany are set to strengthen their bilateral relations, with President Bola Tinubu and German Chancellor Friedrich Merz pledging to collaborate on security, power, and railway development.
The two leaders discussed Nigeria’s power needs, with Tinubu requesting assistance with power transmission under the Presidential Power Initiative.
Germany’s Siemens and Deutsche Bank have offered to assist and finance the project, respectively.
Their conversation also touched on security concerns in the Sahel region, with Tinubu calling for used helicopters to aid intelligence reconnaissance. “The Sahel corridor is bad and needs our support. Intelligence support reconnaissance is needed,” he said.
Additionally, the leaders expressed interest in cooperating on creative arts and skill development, with Merz advocating for the establishment of the Great Museum of African Arts.
