The candidate of the All Progressives Congress (APC), Christopher Maikalangu, has been declared winner of the Abuja Municipal Area Council (AMAC) chairmanship election by the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC).
The result was announced at about 4:30 a.m. on Sunday at the INEC Area Office in Karu.
The AMAC Collation Officer, Andrew Abue, declared Maikalangu, the incumbent chairman, returned elected after polling 40,295 votes out of 62,861 valid votes cast in the election.
“Christopher Maikalangu of the APC, having satisfied the requirements of the law and scored the highest number of votes, is hereby declared the winner and returned elected,” Abue stated.

The African Democratic Congress (ADC) came second with 12,109 votes, while the Peoples Democratic Party (nigeria”] (PDP) secured 3,398 votes.
According to the collation officer, 2,336 votes were rejected. A total of 65,197 votes were cast, with 62,861 deemed valid. The number of accredited voters stood at 65,676 out of 837,338 registered voters.

- African Democratic Congress (ADC) – 12,109 votes
- Action Democratic Party (ADP) – 588 votes
- All Progressives Grand Alliance (APGA) – 1,111 votes

- Action Peoples Party (APP) – 32 votes
- Boot Party (BP) – 43 votes
- New Nigeria Peoples Party (NNPP) – 1,694 votes
- National Rescue Movement (NRM) – 73 votes
- Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) – 3,398 votes
- Peoples Redemption Party (PRP) – 90 votes
- Social Democratic Party (SDP) – 2,185 votes
- Young Progressives Party (YPP) – 421 votes
- Zenith Labour Party (ZLP) – 189 votes.
