AS Saloum and Senegalese Forward, Youssou Diouf has tragically passed away after collapsing following a second division match in Senegal on Sunday.

The incident occurred after AS Saloum’s 0–0 draw against Amitié FC at the Maniang Soumare Stadium in Thies during a Ligue 2 fixture. Diouf, 25 who had come on as a substitute in the 80th minute, reportedly felt unwell shortly after the final whistle.

Medical personnel at the stadium immediately attended to the player before he was evacuated to the regional hospital in Thies. Despite efforts to save him, he sadly passed away.
It was Diouf’s debut appearance for AS Saloum, making the tragedy even more heartbreaking for the club and supporters.
The Senegalese Professional Football League (LSFP) confirmed his death in an official statement, expressing deep sorrow over the loss.
“The Senegalese Professional Football League has learned with deep sadness of the death of Youssou Diouf, a player for AS Saloum, which occurred this Sunday,” the statement read.
The league extended its condolences to Diouf’s family, his teammates, AS Saloum’s management, and the wider Senegalese football community. It also stated that it remains in contact with the relevant authorities and the club to provide necessary support.
Tributes have since poured in on social media, with fans and fellow players mourning the sudden loss and offering prayers for the late footballer.
